Boom Lifts

Booms are aerial lifts that can extend both horizontally and vertically. They are a popular piece of equipment in many modern applications including construction projects, industrial tasks, and other outdoor jobs. Compared with scissor lifts, booms are favoured for providing flexible movement in various directions rather than just up and down. Robust and reliable, they are considered essential in many modern work sites.

Hire Safe Solutions stock a wide range of aerial platforms designed for a variety of tasks. In fact, we boast one of the largest fleets of large boom lifts in the UK! Models are available to hire, lease, or buy, so please feel free to get in contact to make arrangements.

Find out more about our range of boom MEWPs below:

Articulated

Also known as knuckle lifts because of the distinctive arm feature, articulated boom lifts have a bendable, jointed arm that is mounted to a turntable, giving them the ability to rotate in a complete circle. The flexible design of these types of lifts makes them perfect for overcoming obstacles and accessing hard to reach areas that would be difficult to get to using other types of equipment.

Genie Z34 22IC – a great entry-level lift ideal for outdoor construction jobs or other industrial applications. It has a working height of 12.40 metres, outreach of just over 10 metres, and an up and over clearance of 4.57 metres.

JLG 600AJ – with a working height of 20 metres, outreach of just over 12 metres, and an up and over clearance of 8.10 metres, this cherry picker offers one of the best reach envelopes of its class.

Telescopic

Also featuring an extendable arm, telescopic booms differ in that the arm is straight and does not have the ability to bend. Great for reaching varying heights, telescopic equipment is often used for specialised work such as electrical repairs, or other tasks that require only one workman to be lifted as they tend to have smaller buckets. However, this does have an advantage as the lighter weight means they often have a longer reach than other options available.

JLG 1850SJ – boasting a massive working of 56.6 metres plus the ability to drive at full height, the JLG 1850SJ is the world’s largest self-propelled boom.

Trailer mounted

If the type of work you carry out often occurs on different job sites, then a trailer mounted model will be the most cost-effective. These types of mobile elevated work platforms are mounted onto a trailer chassis and can be towed by a range of vehicles. The boom can then be set up once it reaches the desired site using either manual or hydraulic outriggers.

Niftylift 120T – designed to provide maximum reach performance from the most compact chassis possible, this platform is ideal for multi-site contacts. Plus, the narrow width of this model means it’s a great option for indoor maintenance jobs.

Mast

Mast boom lifts are vertically operating platforms that are quiet, often powered by electric or battery drives. They are generally preferred for indoor jobs where space is a premium due to their compact size and fume-less operation.

Manitou 100VJR – offering a modest physical size, this Manitou MEWP is incredibly versatile and favoured by many for its compact design, low weight, and non-marking tyres.

Super

For maximum vertical reach, so-called “super” boom lifts are the very best available. Their nickname is a nod to their superior working height with some machines reaching to above 68 metres!

Snorkel S2100SJ – now available to hire, lease or buy, the S2100 SJ is Snorkel’s largest diesel telescopic platform and it comes with a whole host of patented design features that extend its value. Robust 4-wheel drive makes it perfect for providing stable manoeuvrability over rough terrain whilst two control panels ensure safe operation while working at height.
