Scissor Lift Hire

Scissor lifts are some of the most popular mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPs) available . They are easily recognised by their distinctive scissor-like operating mechanics, visibly supporting the work platform itself.

The choice of powered access platforms can appear confusing at first, but with some careful thought about the application, you’re sure to find the right one for your needs.

With an extensive range of scissor lifts available to buy or rent from some of the industry’s biggest brand names, Hire Safe Solutions are here to ensure you don’t cut corners when it comes to being able to put safety first when working at height.

Selecting a Scissor Lift to Suit You

Hydraulic and pneumatic scissor lifts are making positive strides in lowering the carbon footprint and increasing the versatility of scissor lift use. However, until hydraulic lifts perform

optimally in cold weather and pneumatic lifts increase their power output, electric and diesel scissor lifts will remain the first choice for many.

At their most basic, scissor lifts can be operated by any fully trained licence holder. They offer great power and versatility in their capacity to move people, tools and equipment to great working heights. Today’s electric and diesel scissor lifts are agile enough for indoor and outdoor use in all but the very worst weather, and in the case of a super scissor lift (Super MEWP), they can operate safely at heights in excess of 30 metres! They’re quick to set up too, reducing expensive downtime on-site that might otherwise be taken up installing scaffolding or securing ladders.

Built to tackle the most challenging jobs in harsh weather, tracked scissor lifts are exclusively designed to work outdoors. Typically, they use heavy-duty tyres, can support heavy loads, and their in-built bi-levelling technology keeps them stable over uneven and rough terrain.

Diesel scissor lifts can be commonly seen on construction sites and in outdoor applications. Hefty designs give them bigger work platforms, and the fumes emitted make working outdoors a more natural operational environment.

On the other hand, electric scissor lifts lend themselves more readily to indoor use. They tend to be smaller than their diesel siblings, and with no fumes and a much quieter operation, they’re ideal for use in confined spaces like warehouses and sports halls. Some models even come equipped with non-marking wheels for added protection on indoor floors.
