Abrasive Wheels Training

Abrasive Wheels are potentially one of the most dangerous tools you will find on a construction site. The majority of accidents that occur when using abrasive wheels however, could easily be avoided. This is because most of these accidents occur due to unsafe working practices or by mistakes made by the operator. It is essential then, that employers provide proper abrasive wheels training to ensure that their staff are able to continue working safely.

So what are the risks associated with the use of abrasive wheels? The most obvious risk is the failure of the wheel itself, something that is especially common with cutting discs. This can cause debris to impact the operator and for the abrasive wheel tool to “kick” this can cause substantial injury to the hands and face of the operator. injuries that could be avoided with proper machine and equipment maintenance.

At Hire Safe, we offer abrasive wheel health and safety training to not only prevent injury to company staff, but also help cover your legal requirements to adhere to industry regulations and legislation relating to the safe use of abrasive wheel tools in the workplace. Our abrasive wheels training courses comply with the both the British Abrasive Federation (BAF) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) allowing your staff to work safely and legally.

Our abrasive wheel training course content covers a wide variety of different subjects relating to the use of abrasive wheels, including manufacturers’ safety instructions, the demonstration and promotion of best practice, correct equipment maintenance and the promotion of safe use.

Successful applicants will complete a competency test and will receive a certificate that lasts for three years.
